Entrepreneur-In-Residence

The Conrad Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology Centre’s Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) connects the Master of Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology (MBET) students to an experienced, successful technology entrepreneur who can share his expertise, provide real-world business counsel and help students more deeply understand the processes of innovation and venture building.

Dr. Doug Beynon , CEO, Beynon Enterprises, has been appointed the Conrad Entrepreneur-in-Residence.  As a seasoned entrepreneur, board member, business leader and investor in many technology based startup firms, Beynon brings a crucial skill set and wealth of industry knowledge to the position. In his previous role as Chair of the Conrad Advisory Council, he developed a critical understanding of Conrad’s mission and played an instrumental role in program planning for the MBET.
In addition to providing his expertise through guest lectures, workshops and coordination with the Conrad Advisory Council, Beynon will share insight and experience that assists students to more deeply understand the processes of innovation and venture building, including:

    • One-on-one consultations, feedback and suggestions with MBET students and practicum teams.
    • Encouraging and mentoring MBET students and student project groups
    • Assisting in the effective development of applied business/leadership skills
    • Introductions, through various networks, to other successful business people who can help or advise MBET students.
    • Providing advice about angel investors and venture capitalists.
    • Assisting in the co-ordination and preparation of business plan competitions for practicum groups and student entries

Students are encouraged to meet Doug individually, or in teams, to discuss practicum or venture creation issues. Students are expected to come prepared with questions, based on their ideas, opinions, and strategies for practicum projects and for potential and actual business ventures.
